Siobhan Rockcastle, Kyuho Ahn, and Cory Olsen have been awarded an Agricultural Research Services (ARS) Tallwood Design Institute grant for the proposal titled, ‘Systems-integrated mass timber assemblies for affordable housing: lighting, electrical, and acoustics.’ This $40,000 grant will support build upon our ongoing research by cataloguing and simulating the performance of existing modular systems that integrate electrical wiring, lighting, and acoustic dampening within the assembly. Based on this catalogue of existing solutions, we will run an interior architecture design studio to propose novel solutions and then construct scaled physical prototypes to further study their feasibility.
