Manufacture des Saignoles opens in Le Locle, Switzerland

Audemars Piguet, the Swiss watch manufacturer, just opened the doors to a new manufacturing site at Le Locle, Switzerland. Working with the architect, Kunik de Morsier, Oculight dynamics consulted on the daylight performance in the ateliers and central collaboration space, proposing a series of ‘oculus’ openings in the roof. These openings were proposed after an analysis of the initial design showed excessive sunlight in the winter months when low sun angles were entering through vertical glazing in large roof monitors. The roof redesign controls the amount of direct sunlight that enters the space, creating more indirect lighting through angled openings and improving comfort while maintaining high levels of dynamic light for a healthy occupant experience.
